AKI KOMINE
Mr. Aki Komine is a motion picture executive, producer and
distributor with comprehensive experience in all facets of the
motion picture industry.
From 1985– 1989 Mr. Komine served in executive positions with Daiei
Studios in Tokyo Japan. In particular he was in charge of the
company's Video distribution.
In
1989 Mr. Komine moved to the United States of America and produced
his first film "GYVER" based upon the famous Japanese comic
book of the same name.
In 1992 together with Mr. Taka Ichise (producer
of the famous international success "THE RING") Mr.
Komine formed Ozla Pictures, Inc. and proceeded to produce films
which included stars such as Russell
Crowe, Figgo Mortensen, Mark Dacascos and Malcolm MacDowell:
"NECRONOMICON" "AMERICAN YAKUZA"
"BLUE TIGER" "FIST OF THE NORTH STAR" "NO
WAY BACK" "CRYING FREEMAN" "BACK TO BACK" "COUNTDOWN" "DRIVE"
and "SWEET JANE."
In
partnerships with TIME4 Media (NEW YORK, USA) and TRANSWORLD MEDIA
(San Diego, USA) Boomer, Inc was incorporated in 1997 to service Mr.
Komine's publication interests, in the Web & Magazine Design and
Production of Japanese versions of the American magazines:
Popular Science, TranWorld SNOWboarding, TransWorld SKATEboarding,
TransWorld Surf Magazine and Custom Lowrider.
To
produce and finance motion pictures and commercials including the
feature films "SUCKERS" and " SIX DAYS AT ROSWELL" Mr.
Komine in 1998 incorporated Boomerang Films, Inc. which participated
in TV commercial productions with Dentsu of Kirin Lager Beer,
7-Eleven, Richo, National Panasonic, Honda Accord, Sapporo Beer,
Victor JVC, Toshiba Europe & China, Hitachi Wide Screen TV, Yamaha
Silent Piano, Sony Wega Flat Screen TV Panasonic Flat Screen TV,
Tokyo Bigsite and with McCann-Erickson on Isuzu Trooper, Rodeo, and
Bighorn Promotion Videos.
Boomerang also represents important Japanese companies to acquire
distribution rights for Japan of American properties. A recent
example is the complete “LONE RANGER" TV series.
In
the area of distribution in the USA the very successful Home
Entertainment company Adness America, Co. Inc. a California
corporation owned by Mr. Komine commenced business in 2002, mainly
to handle the films of Japanese clients which include all the major
Japanese studios such as: Kadokawa Pictures, Nikkatsu Corporation,
Shochiku Co, Ltd., Toei Co. Ltd. and Toho Co., Ltd.
The library of titles Adness has acquired for the United States and
Canada include the first five titles in the "Tomie"
series, a Collection of Sonny Chiba titles, Killing Machine, Shaolin
Samurai, Karate for Life, Karate Bullfighter, Karate Bearfighter,
Shogun Samurai, G.I. Samurai, Shogun Shadow, Fall of Ako Castle,
Shogun Ninja, The Executioner, The Executioner 2., and many others.
BCI Eclipse a Navarre Corporation Company, handle the
release of these motion pictures for Adness to the DVD market in
North America.
Mr. Komine is currently in post production of forty episodes of the
live action, American version, of the Television series
Kamen Rider – Dragon
Knight, to
be broadcast in the United States by CW, starting early in 2009.
Mr. Komine is married. He commutes between Tokyo and Los Angeles.
His main recreational interests are music and golf.
